HBO Vinyl Premiere
CLIENT: HBO Nordic
LOCATION: Oslo, Norway
ROLE: Executive Producer
YEAR PRODUCED: 2016
For the Nordic premiere of HBO’s Vinyl, the goal was to create an experience that pulled guests into the show’s world—not just watching it, but living it. The concept: fully transport attendees into the gritty energy of a 1970s underground rock club, engaging all five senses from arrival to finale.
Invitations were delivered as custom vinyl records, with event details and each guest’s name printed directly on the album jacket. Upon arrival, guests were guided down a dimly lit back alley and checked in by a club “bouncer” before entering the no-frills venue. Inside, they were welcomed by a record-shaped step-and-repeat, a roaming Polaroid photographer, and a signature drink served in a red Solo cup—setting the tone immediately.
The screening space was layered with grungy rugs, thrifted sofas, bar chairs, and oversized bean bags, creating an authentic, lived-in club environment. Following the screening, guests were ushered to the basement for a live rock concert featuring local bands, complete with oversized speakers, haze-filled lighting, and a high-energy atmosphere that turned the premiere into a true Vinyl moment.
The result was a deeply immersive launch that blurred the line between content and experience, leaving guests with a visceral connection to the series.
